Garbage Collection Rules and Regulations

The City of Celeste is contracted with Sanitation Solutions to manage garbage collection within the city limits. Below are the rules and regulations governing garbage collection.

 

• All residential bins and waste must be placed at a single collection point within three (3) feet of the street curb by 7 am on Wednesday.
• Residential waste must be placed in bags or cans for collection and should not exceed 50 pounds. Sanitation Solutions is not required to collect more than ten (10) items comprising bags, containers, and bundles per collection. Brush must be bundled and must not exceed 4 feet in length, 4 inches in diameter, and weigh less than 50 pounds per bundle.
• A once-per-week collection service for bulky waste is provided. Sanitation Solutions will collect up to one (1) cubic yard of bulky waste per collection. There is no obligation to collect bulky waste exceeding the specified volumes or any construction debris produced by commercial service providers hired by customers and generated and located at residential units. One bulky item per week will be allowed per resident and must be placed next to the trash bin.
• UNACCEPTABLE WASTE: Any waste that would cause a violation of any permit, condition, legal or regulatory requirement, substantial damage to the contractor's equipment or facilities, or present a danger to the health or safety of the public or the contractor's employees. This includes, but is not limited to, hazardous waste, special waste (except as otherwise provided herein), untreated medical waste, dead animals weighing ten pounds (10 lbs.) or greater, solid or dissolved material in domestic sewage, solid or dissolved material in irrigation return flows, industrial discharges subject to regulation by permit, soil, dirt, rock, sand, and other natural or man-made inert solid materials used to fill land if the object of the fill is to make the land suitable for the construction of surface improvements.
